Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus and her ex-husband, filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan, have found themselves at the center of renewed public attention following a resurfaced 2023 interview where Damasus claimed she discovered her marriage had ended through a video on YouTube. According to her, she never received any direct communication from her then-husband before the shocking revelation.
During her appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, Damasus emotionally recounted the moment she learned of her separation on social media, describing it as one of the most painful experiences of her life. She revealed that she began receiving frantic calls from friends and colleagues urging her to check YouTube to find out what was happening in her marriage.

“A lot of things were said about me on YouTube because that is how I found out my marriage had ended. I didn’t know that my marriage had ended,” Damasus said, adding that the ordeal left her feeling deeply betrayed and alone.
Her heartfelt account quickly reignited intense public interest in the couple’s highly private breakup and prompted a strong response from Ademinokan, who had largely maintained silence on the matter until now.
Breaking his silence through a series of detailed Instagram story posts, Ademinokan firmly denied Stella’s claims, labeling them as “lies.” He revealed that he had intentionally chosen to stay quiet out of respect for their past relationship and to protect their son. However, he stated that he could no longer remain silent in the face of what he described as a distorted narrative.
To support his side of the story, Ademinokan shared a screenshot of an email allegedly sent by Damasus on July 20, 2021. In the email, Stella explicitly requested an address to which she could send divorce documents, suggesting that she was fully aware of the separation long before any YouTube videos surfaced.
In a more disturbing part of his revelation, Ademinokan disclosed that his decision to end the marriage was driven by concerns for his mental health and, more importantly, the safety and well-being of his son. He alleged that his son had endured physical abuse during the marriage and that the situation became so severe that the boy had to wear makeup to school to cover injuries.
He further claimed that he had made numerous sacrifices and endured many challenges for the sake of preserving peace and protecting his child from further trauma, but ultimately, he felt compelled to leave the marriage to safeguard their son’s safety and emotional health.
