Sonia Adesuwa, the ex-wife of Nigerian footballer Jude Ighalo, has once again taken to social media to criticize him, this time over his statement about faithfully paying tithes to the church for the past 20 years.
A viral video featuring Ighalo recently surfaced online, where he proudly stated that he has never failed to pay 10% of his earnings as tithe throughout his career. He emphasized that his dedication to tithing has remained unwavering over the years, attributing his financial success to this religious practice.
However, Sonia was unimpressed by his declaration and took to Instagram to mock him. In a now-deleted Instagram story, she accused the footballer of being deceitful and misleading his followers while his own family members allegedly struggle financially. She specifically mentioned that Ighalo’s elder sister sells garri and tomatoes in a kiosk, questioning why he prioritizes giving money to religious leaders instead of his family.
Sonia further alleged that Ighalo’s siblings and their spouses all live in his house with their children, relying on his wealth, while he continues to publicly display acts of generosity towards pastors. She described his siblings as a “nuisance to society,” questioning what they do for a living apart from bearing the Ighalo name.

Expressing her frustration, she wrote: “This is coming from someone whose elder sister sells garri and tomatoes in a kiosk. This boy is insane as hell! Continue deceiving your gullible followers with your diabolical Aza Men, whom you call MOG (Men of God). I remember when Dozel (his pastor) pleaded with me to convince him to start paying tithe to them instead.”
She went on to reveal that one of Ighalo’s pastors allegedly argued that another religious leader was monopolizing the footballer’s tithes. “Dozie said, ‘Osita (the real Odogwu Aza man) cannot be collecting all the money for himself.’ My brother, na so I begin beg OJB and Dozie till he eventually joined. Now, they all have mansions in the East,” she claimed.
Continuing her rant, Sonia questioned the financial status of Ighalo’s immediate family members, suggesting that, despite his wealth, they are not doing well. “Where are his siblings? Aside from being a nuisance in society and passing themselves off as Ighalo brothers and sisters, what do they do for a living? They all live in his homes with their spouses and children,” she alleged.
She concluded by criticizing Ighalo for prioritizing tithe payments over taking care of his own family. “10% to Aza Men pastors when your family never chop finish. No be juju be that?” she mocked.
Sonia and Ighalo have a long history of publicly calling each other out since their separation, frequently engaging in social media disputes over various issues.
