Nigerian comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, widely known as Seyi Law,, has openly expressed that there is absolutely nothing that will ever make him support the politician Peter Obi. This statement comes after a series of attacks from the political figure’s supporters, which, according to Seyi Law, crossed a line by targeting his family. The comedian shared this sentiment during a revealing interview on the Tejubabyface show, where he opened up about his feelings toward the political atmosphere in Nigeria and the actions of Obi’s supporters.
According to Seyi Law, he has made it clear that he will never lend his support to Peter Obi as long as the politician refuses to take responsibility for his supporters’ actions. The comedian particularly pointed out the disrespect and verbal abuse he and his family received from the Obidients (Peter Obi’s supporters), which he stated was a personal line that should never have been crossed.
In his conversation on the Tejubabyface show, Seyi Law mentioned that while he is generally able to let go of personal anger, the situation became completely different when it involved his family. He explained that his anger toward Peter Obi and his supporters was not based on personal grievances but on the attacks that were made on his children, wife, and mother. This, according to him, crossed a boundary that cannot be forgiven. The comedian emphasized, “The only place it lasts long is when you leave me and attack my children, mother, and wife.”
Seyi Law further emphasized the gravity of the situation by making it clear that there is no chance he would ever forgive or support Peter Obi as long as his supporters continue their attacks. He mentioned, “The moment you cross that boundary from me to my children, mother, and wife — there is no forgiveness.” He elaborated on the specific incident that led to this decision, revealing that Obi’s supporters had targeted his family, which created an irreparable rift between him and the politician. According to the comedian, even if Peter Obi were to wear the “garment of Jesus Christ,” it would not change his stance.
“That is why there is nothing on earth that Peter Obi can do that will make me support him. They (Obidients) attacked my children and my wife,” Seyi Law stated emphatically. He made it clear that Peter Obi’s inability to control his supporters and address their behavior was a crucial reason why he would never back him in any political capacity.
Seyi Law also made a point to mention that his decision is not motivated by personal vendettas or grudges but is instead a matter of principle. He stated that he could not support any politician or organization that allows its members to engage in cult-like behavior, highlighting that any group which suppresses free thought is not a community he would want to align with. In his words, “Any organization that does not support free thinking is a cult.”
The comedian further elaborated that while he had initially been open to supporting Obi, the unacceptable actions of his supporters had completely shut the door on any potential alliance. He also stressed that, despite the heated political climate, his beliefs and decisions are based on his personal experiences and the protection of his family, not on any external pressures or political ideologies.
“Let Peter Obi wear the garment of Jesus Christ today — he will never get my support. Hate or love me, my personal way of life is between me and God,” Seyi Law firmly concluded, reinforcing that his position was not up for debate and that he would never be swayed by external factors or superficial gestures.
This public declaration from Seyi Law adds yet another layer to the ongoing political discourse in Nigeria, especially regarding the support and behavior of politicians’ followers. While many Nigerians continue to debate the actions and integrity of various political figures, Seyi Law’s stance has sparked a conversation about the importance of holding leaders accountable for the conduct of their supporters.
