Big Brother Naija reality star, Samuel Jacob Alifa, popularly known as Sammie, has been called out on social media after allegedly defrauding a man named Emmanuel of a total sum of ₦4.45 million. The money was reportedly paid under the pretense of helping Emmanuel secure a slot on the BBNaija show.

The allegation surfaced via a trending post on X (formerly Twitter), shared by a user identified as @AssistantEbukaa. The post also featured a video where Emmanuel narrated his experience, accusing Sammie of deceiving him with fake promises of influencing his entry into the popular reality show.

In the video, an intro read: “BBNaija star Sammie took almost ₦5 million from this guy, promising it would push him to become a contestant during the audition, but the audition just ended and he wasn’t even selected.”

According to Emmanuel, he trusted Sammie because they shared a personal relationship, referring to him as a "brother from Kogi State." Emmanuel claimed Sammie persistently requested money during the audition process and even urged him to take out a loan when funds were low.

In a desperate attempt to meet the demands, Emmanuel revealed that he took out the loan and later had to sell his car to repay the debt. Despite Sammie’s earlier assurance that the money would be refunded if the plan didn’t succeed, he allegedly cut off all communication after the audition process concluded without Emmanuel being selected.

Emmanuel’s statement in the video was emotional: “My name is Emmanuel. I was scammed of ₦4.5 million by my brother from Kogi State, Samuel. He advised me to get a loan. At the end of the day, I had to sell my car to pay back the loan. What hurt me the most is that I wasn’t just scammed by a random person, but by someone I trusted and considered a brother.”

The video has since gone viral, sparking widespread reactions online. Many Nigerians have expressed outrage and disappointment in Sammie’s alleged behavior, questioning how a former contestant could exploit another person’s dreams in such a manner.
