Media personality, Beauty Goddess has publicly apologized to Priscilla Ojo Mkambala after facing backlash over her comment about Priscilla's wedding. The incident began when Beauty Goddess, who was noticeably absent from the wedding, posted a video explaining why she could not attend.
In the video, Beauty Goddess mentioned that she had already booked a flight and was unable to cancel it due to a commitment involving “JP Whatever.” Her choice of words, particularly the way she dismissed the importance of the event, led to an outpouring of criticism from netizens who found her remarks disrespectful.
Following the backlash, Beauty Goddess took to her Instagram page to issue a heartfelt apology. She explained that she never intended for her comment to sound dismissive or disrespectful towards Priscilla or her wedding day. Acknowledging the negative reactions, Beauty Goddess expressed her understanding of why people were upset with her video.
In her apology post, Beauty Goddess said, “I’ve seen some of the reactions to the live I did, and honestly, I understand why people are upset. It came off like I was being dismissive about Priscilla’s wedding, and I hate that it even looked like that. Priscilla, if you see this I’m really really sorry. I love and respect you so much and God knows how excited I’ve been for your big day.”
She continued, “I would never intentionally try to make it about me or take away from your moment. The way I said what I said was messy, and I own that. I wasn’t thinking about how it would sound, and I definitely didn’t mean it in a shady or unserious way. The last thing I’d ever want is to make your day feel less than perfect, especially over something like this. I have no bad intentions at all and I’m deeply sorry to Mr. and Mrs. Mkambala.”
The apology seemed to resonate with many of Beauty Goddess' followers, who appreciated her taking responsibility for the situation. She also expressed her admiration for Priscilla and emphasized that her absence from the wedding was not meant to take away from the importance of the event.
