Popular Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, was recently involved in a serious incident outside his father’s residence in Ogun State, where he narrowly escaped a suspected knife attack.
Reports making the rounds on social media, along with video footage, suggest that a man dressed in camouflage military-style trousers and a Special Forces T-shirt approached Portable’s vehicle while allegedly in possession of a sharp blade. The quick-thinking singer and his team managed to apprehend the suspect before any physical harm could occur.
Items found on the man included a knife and a charm tied around his waist, raising suspicion about his intentions. During questioning, the suspect denied any plans to attack Portable, instead claiming that he was part of a security task force. His explanation, however, did little to calm onlookers and fans online who expressed growing concern over Portable’s safety.
The video, which has since gone viral, shows the suspect sitting on the ground while Portable and several community members interrogate him. Many netizens have voiced alarm over the growing trend of individuals impersonating law enforcement officers and using uniforms to carry out suspicious activities.
This unsettling event has fueled online conversations about the safety of Nigerian celebrities and the urgent need for better personal security measures. Portable, known for his outspoken and controversial personality, appeared visibly shaken but composed as he dealt with the situation in the footage shared on various platforms.
