Singer Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, has been remanded in the Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, after he failed to meet the bail conditions set by an Upper Area Court. This comes after the controversial singer was granted bail in connection with charges against him. The bail amount was set at N1 million, with two sureties required to stand in like sum, which he has yet to meet. Portable now remains in prison until the conditions are fulfilled.
The court's bail stipulations included specific requirements for the sureties. One of them must be either the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). The other surety must be a property owner within a Government Reserved Area (GRA) in Ilorin, and they must possess a valid Certificate of Occupancy to prove ownership. These measures are in place to ensure accountability and the singer's appearance in future court proceedings.

The charges against Portable stem from a live Instagram broadcast in which he allegedly defamed fellow artist Okunola Saheed Osupa, popularly known as Osupa. During the broadcast, Portable made derogatory comments, accusing Osupa of being envious of his success and trying to ruin his reputation. These remarks have led to accusations of defamation, intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking. As a result, Osupa filed a petition on March 21, 2025, triggering the legal proceedings. The case was documented under First Information Report (FIR) 117(1) CPC.
Portable's release is now contingent on meeting the set bail conditions, but until then, he remains in the Oke Kura Correctional Centre. The court has adjourned the case, stressing the importance of maintaining respect and order throughout the legal process. The case has drawn considerable attention, and Portable's legal battle will continue to unfold as he awaits resolution.
