General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has openly declared that no amount of insults, verbal attacks, or criticisms will ever provoke him or push him into reacting in anger.
Speaking passionately during the July Holy Ghost Service held on Friday night at the RCCG Redemption City in Mowe, Ogun State, Pastor Adeboye shared deep spiritual insights on the dangers of anger and the importance of staying focused on one's divine assignment regardless of external pressures or provocations.
The highly respected cleric emphasized that as a servant of God, he has learned over the years to remain calm and unmoved in the face of negative remarks, harsh criticisms, and deliberate attempts to tarnish his image. According to him, he is completely committed to fulfilling his divine mandate and will not allow anything to derail or distract him from his heavenly goals.
“Anger is temporary madness,” Adeboye declared to the congregation. “You don’t want to be mad. Some people will do things to provoke you, but don’t fall into their trap. One of the easiest ways to destroy your destiny is through anger.”
He further noted that over time, numerous individuals have said “all kinds of nonsense” about him, hoping to get a reaction, but he has firmly resolved never to fall into such traps or respond in kind. Rather, he chooses to stay focused on God’s work and continue leading by example.
“A lot of people have been saying whatever they like about me. They are waiting for me to get angry one day, but I won’t. I’m going to reach my goal,” Pastor Adeboye reaffirmed, encouraging believers to adopt the same spirit of patience and resilience in their personal lives.
During his sermon, Adeboye also shared an intriguing encounter with a prominent African head of state who sought divine intervention after all medical efforts had failed. According to Adeboye, the head of state had heard about God’s miraculous works through the RCCG ministry and decided to reach out to him directly, requesting a private audience.
“I remember a head of state somewhere in Africa who had a problem that no doctor could handle. He heard that there is a man of God who could heal him, so he sent for me,” Adeboye recounted.
However, Adeboye explained that he declined the invitation, citing his tight schedule and unwavering dedication to his pre-planned commitments. Instead of traveling to meet the president, he instructed the local pastor in that country to relay the message that he was unavailable at that time.
“I told the pastor to let the excellency know I was very busy. I didn’t want to explain that there is one excellency more excellent than the other,” he added, highlighting that his ultimate loyalty and service belong to God above any earthly authority.
Despite this, Adeboye revealed that the head of state eventually decided to come to the RCCG Redemption Camp himself, demonstrating humility and desperation for divine help. On the day of his visit, Adeboye testified that God intervened miraculously and the head of state’s problem was instantly solved, further reinforcing the power of God’s presence at the camp.
Pastor Adeboye concluded by urging Christians to avoid anger at all costs, warning that it is one of the fastest ways to destroy one’s destiny and spiritual progress. He encouraged believers to remain steadfast, patient, and focused on God, regardless of the challenges or provocations they may face in life.
