Popular Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has thrown her weight behind her colleague, Laide Bakare, over her decision to publicly shame fellow actress Eniola Badmus for undergoing a surgical procedure to shed weight.
This comes after Opeyemi Aiyeola previously called out Eniola Badmus for body shaming her in the comment section of one of her recent social media videos. Opeyemi did not hold back in expressing her displeasure over the incident, making it known that she found Eniola’s actions unacceptable and unprovoked.
Drama between Eniola Badmus and Laide Bakare had initially escalated during the premiere of the movie *Owambe Thieves*, produced by Eniola Ajao. A viral video surfaced online, capturing the moment Eniola Badmus could be seen exiting the dance floor while uttering in Yoruba, “Don’t film us together, we’re not friends,” referring to Laide Bakare.
Following the incident, Laide Bakare wasted no time taking to her social media page to address the situation. She posted a screenshot of a heated chat exchange with Eniola Badmus. In the conversation, Eniola’s messages read: “What manner of human being does that?” “Must I be in your picture?” “I’ve been calling you and you refuse to pick up.” “F**k off.” “You heard me right.” “Don’t bring your terrible animalistic behavior around me.” “Stay farrrrrrr.”
Laide Bakare, visibly upset, didn’t hold back her emotions as she captioned the post with a scathing note directed at Eniola. She wrote: “I gave you your first major role when no one wanted to associate with you because of your ugly looks and obesity. I spent my hard-earned money on an ingrate like you. All you could pay me back with is to call me an animal? Haa! Eniola! Almighty God will judge you insha Allah. You have started what you can’t finish and I promise you, you must collect.”
Interestingly, in a show of solidarity, Opeyemi Aiyeola publicly expressed her support for Laide Bakare by liking her controversial post where she body-shamed Eniola Badmus for opting to undergo surgery to lose weight.
This subtle but bold move by Opeyemi signaled her approval of Laide’s action, further fueling the already tense situation among the actresses involved.
