Nigerian actress, producer, and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has expressed her outrage over the unauthorized airing of her movies by several Ghanaian television stations without obtaining the necessary rights.
Taking to her Instagram page on Saturday evening, the award-winning actress called out these TV stations for airing her films without proper licensing. She further criticized the Ghana National Film Authority for failing to regulate and protect the rights of filmmakers from such intellectual property theft.
In her passionate post, Omoni Oboli did not mince words as she vowed to take legal action against the television stations involved. She emphasized the hard work, dedication, and sleepless nights that go into filmmaking, stressing that it is unacceptable for her work to be exploited without proper authorization.
Expressing her frustration, she wrote:
“I love my Ghanaian besties, colleagues, and friends, but you see those TV stations in Ghana, I’m coming for you! The audacity to show my movies without licensing! If dem no arrest one of una, you won’t learn! Watch out! Coming for every one of you!”
She further stated:
“You have no idea how much work goes into these projects. The sleepless nights I have! I’m coming for it all! You will pay for every one of my movies you have shown without permission! In 2025, you don’t understand that’s IP theft?!!!”
In her concluding remarks, she took a jab at the Ghanaian film authorities, questioning whether they had any functional television regulatory body in place:
“Maybe you don’t have a television authority in Ghana, but that is not my concern! Coming for you all! Clowns! Thanks to my Ghanaian besties for always sending me screenshots.”
Following her post, several fans and fellow filmmakers took to the comment section to support her stance, with many urging her to take strong legal action against those responsible.
