The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially declared Nigerian singer and social media personality, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, wanted over multiple serious allegations, including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.

The declaration was made public through the agency’s verified Instagram account on Friday afternoon. In the statement, NAPTIP appealed to members of the public who may have any credible information regarding Speed Darlington’s whereabouts to come forward and report to the nearest agency office or contact the official hotlines immediately.

This dramatic development follows Speed Darlington’s failure to respond to previous invitations by the agency for questioning. The matter stems from a disturbing incident involving a viral Instagram Live video, during which the entertainer allegedly boasted about engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

The video, which was reportedly aired on Children’s Day, triggered a national outcry, sparking widespread condemnation from civil society groups, human rights advocates, and the general public, many of whom called for his swift arrest and prosecution.

Following the outrage, NAPTIP issued a formal summons to Darlington Okoye, requesting him to report to its Abuja headquarters for interrogation on May 30, 2025. However, rather than comply, Speed Darlington responded by asking for the session to be postponed, citing other commitments. “I already have commitments… I suggest you reschedule for next month, June 26,” he wrote.

Despite granting the new date, NAPTIP noted that Okoye still failed to honour the appointment. A follow-up letter was reportedly sent, stressing the urgency and national significance of the case. He was then given a final ultimatum to appear by June 2, 2025, but again, he did not show up.

As a result of his repeated non-compliance and the severity of the accusations, the agency has now taken the decisive step of declaring him wanted. Authorities continue to appeal for public cooperation, urging citizens to report any sightings or leads that could assist in locating and apprehending the fugitive entertainer.

This case marks a major legal and social turning point in the Nigerian entertainment space, underscoring the growing consequences of online behavior and reinforcing the seriousness with which government agencies are addressing crimes against minors and digital misconduct.
