Popular Nigerian comedian, skit maker, and activist, Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, has reaffirmed his decision to ignore Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at any future public gatherings or meetings where they might cross paths.
It should be recalled that Mr Macaroni had previously snubbed Governor Sanwo-Olu during a public event in 2023. The incident gained widespread attention, with cameras capturing the deliberate manner in which the comedian avoided acknowledging or greeting the governor. This act of defiance was widely discussed on social media, sparking different reactions from the public.
On another occasion, reports surfaced that Mr Macaroni was put under pressure by certain individuals to formally greet and acknowledge Governor Sanwo-Olu despite his obvious reluctance. This incident, too, sparked debates about his refusal to engage with the governor and fueled further discussions about his stance against certain actions of the Lagos State government.
Now, the comedian has taken to his official account on X (formerly Twitter) to categorically state that he will no longer allow anyone to force or coerce him into interacting with the Lagos State Governor. He made it clear that his decision is final and that he remains firm in his stance.
Mr Macaroni further emphasized that the next time he encounters Governor Sanwo-Olu in any setting, he will continue to ignore him as he has done in the past. He went as far as stating that even if the governor personally calls out to him, he will not respond.
Expressing his frustration over the backlash he has received for his actions, Mr Macaroni stated that he is tired of addressing the issue and will no longer entertain criticisms from those who feel he is wrong for snubbing the governor.
His words read …
“This is the last time I will address this matter. It is not worth my peace of mind. Since you people won’t stop attacking me because I didn’t greet Governor Sanwoolu, next time I see him, I still won’t greet him. And this time, even if he calls me, I won’t answer. You people will cry today, tomorrow, and forever!”
