Emeka Ugwuonye, the legal representative of May Edochie, has publicly addressed and firmly dismissed recent reports suggesting that his client sent an apology letter to her estranged husband, Yul Edochie, amid their ongoing divorce battle.
In a widely viewed live session, Ugwuonye vehemently denied the circulating rumors, describing them as completely false and unfounded. He emphasized that May remains focused on pursuing her divorce case and her legal claims for damages due to adultery, rather than offering any form of apology to Yul.
“There is nothing like that. May has no reason to apologize; she is the one who filed for the divorce,” Ugwuonye asserted during his live session. “Yul had every opportunity to fight for a counterclaim, but he chose not to. As it stands today, Yul has openly embraced polygamy. He is the one who should be apologizing to May for the pain and distress caused by his decision.”
Ugwuonye further clarified that Yul’s choice to pursue a polygamous marriage and introduce another woman into their home was the principal factor that led to the complete breakdown of the Edochies’ union. He insisted that the false narrative about an apology was a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and tarnish May’s image, urging fans and supporters to disregard such misleading information.
The lawyer also highlighted that May Edochie has consistently maintained her dignity and focus despite the emotionally charged situation. According to him, her legal strategy remains centered on protecting her rights and seeking justice for the emotional trauma and betrayal she experienced as a result of Yul’s relationship with Judy Austin.
It should be recalled that the legal battle between May and Yul Edochie began in August 2023 when May formally filed for divorce, citing adultery as the primary reason. As part of her case, she sought a compensation of N100 million in damages from Judy Austin, whom Yul introduced to the public as his second wife back in April 2022. This move by Yul was met with heavy criticism and caused significant public uproar, further straining the family’s dynamics and intensifying media scrutiny.
Ugwuonye’s statements have now set the record straight, reinforcing May’s unwavering stance and reaffirming her decision to move forward with her legal claims without yielding to public pressure or false narratives. He assured supporters that all necessary legal steps are being diligently taken to ensure justice is served and May’s interests are protected.
