Nigerian actor, media personality, and influencer Lege Miami has sparked controversy online after publicly calling out the mother of popular Afrobeat singer Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake.

Lege Miami, in a social media post that has been widely shared on X (formerly Twitter), accused Asake’s mother of being a “bad person” following a phone conversation he allegedly had with the singer’s father.

According to Lege, Asake’s father reached out to him and disclosed his ongoing struggles, claiming that despite his son’s financial success, he has been left to fend for himself while battling an illness.

Lege Miami further explained that the singer’s father revealed that Asake had rented an apartment for him on the Island three years ago and also gifted him a car. However, since then, he has neither seen nor heard from his son, who has allegedly ignored all his calls and messages.

The father reportedly stated that his health condition has made it difficult for him to afford medical treatment and pay his rent, forcing him to seek help publicly through social media.

Expressing his disappointment, Lege Miami directly addressed Asake, criticizing him for allegedly neglecting his father’s needs. He also shifted some of the blame to Asake’s mother, calling her out for allegedly influencing the situation negatively.

Lege Miami’s full statement read:

“Asake, your father called me this morning and told me everything. He said you bought him a car and rented an apartment for him three years ago, but since then, he has not seen you. He is sick and needs you, but you keep ignoring his calls.”

“He told me he has been going to a general hospital for treatment because he cannot afford private healthcare. He said he doesn’t want money, he just wants to talk to you, but you are not answering him.”

“He also said his rent is due, and because of his illness, he can’t work to renew it. He has been trying to reach you, but you have refused to pick up. Why are you doing this to your father?”

“Your daddy wants to see you, Asake. He just wants to talk to you. And Mummy Asake, you are a bad person—may God forgive you for your role in this.”

Following Lege Miami’s allegations, social media erupted with mixed reactions, as many users debated the situation. While some criticized Asake for allegedly neglecting his father, others defended him, arguing that there might be more to the story than what was shared publicly.

See some of the reactions below:

@FLACKO_VVS: “Hearing one-sided stories and rushing to conclusions is not the way. We don’t know the full details.”

@lesh_szajna: “Asake has been carrying his whole family’s financial burden since he blew up. Let’s hear his side first.”

@OnyeMadu26: “If the father really wanted to talk to his son, why didn’t he just get someone close to Asake to reach him instead of making it public?”

@Akinomoosun: “Some fathers abandon their children when they are young and later expect care and support when the child becomes successful. What’s the full story?”

@BobManager_: “So Asake rented an apartment and bought a car for his father, but that’s still not enough? Some people are never satisfied.”
