This development was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, via a public post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

According to Commissioner Wahab, the restaurant was shut down after it was linked to an illegal dumping of refuse, an environmental offense that violates the state’s sanitation laws. The incident was reportedly flagged by residents of Lekki Phase 1, prompting a swift response from the environmental task force.

Wahab further revealed that during the enforcement operation, two suspects associated with the restaurant attempted to bribe environmental officers with a sum of ₦100,000 in an effort to evade sanctions. However, the officials rejected the offer and proceeded with the sealing of the premises.

This incident marks the second time Donald’s Fast Food has faced closure by the state government. In September 2024, the establishment was also sealed for noise pollution and multiple environmental infractions.

“In the early hours of Saturday, 18th May 2025, the Chairman of the Lekki Estate Residents Association (@Lekkiphase1_) alerted us to an incident involving the illegal dumping of refuse along Durosimi-Etti Street in Lekki Phase 1.

A white Ford van with Abuja registration number GWA 136E was caught in the act of indiscriminately discharging waste.

Investigations led to Donald restaurant, a nightlife establishment located on Road 14 within the estate, as the source of the offense.

The suspects were apprehended on the scene by the Chief Security Officer of LERA and were taken into custody at the LERA Secretariat. It was also reported that the individuals tried to bribe the security team with ₦100,000—a gesture that was rightly refused.”

The Commissioner commended the vigilance of the residents and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment across the state.
