Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has delivered a powerful message targeting young Nigerians, especially men, who use age as a means to insult and degrade others online.
In a strongly worded video posted to her social media page, Henshaw criticized the increasing trend where people, particularly young men, resort to mocking women by calling them “old” whenever they run out of arguments or seek to shame them. She described this practice as outdated, ignorant, and a clear sign of immaturity and low self-esteem.

The acclaimed actress pointed out the irony and hypocrisy behind this behavior. She noted that many of those who use age as an insult are often the same people who publicly pray for long life and celebrate birthdays by wishing others many more years to come. She questioned why they would then turn around to weaponize age as an insult, essentially contradicting their own public expressions of valuing longevity.
Henshaw went on to emphasize that ageing is a privilege and a blessing that should be cherished, not mocked. She reminded her audience that not everyone has the opportunity to grow old, and for that reason alone, age should never be used as a tool to demean others.
Sharing her own perspective, Kate stated confidently that no one could shame her with age-related insults. She explained that with age comes peace, self-assurance, and a deeper sense of freedom — qualities she values greatly and wears proudly.
She said …
“It’s always the young men. When they want to insult you, the first thing is to call you ‘old woman.’ Is that supposed to hurt me?
Do you people want to die young? Because you wish people long life, yet you use age as an insult. Make it make sense.
Nobody can shame me. Ageing is a privilege. The peace and confidence that come with age? That’s real freedom.”
The video has since garnered widespread attention and sparked conversations across social media platforms. Many users have applauded Kate Henshaw for boldly confronting age-shaming culture and standing up for women who face similar attacks online.
Fans and fellow celebrities alike have flooded her comment section, praising her wisdom and courage in addressing an issue that affects not just women in the entertainment industry but countless women worldwide.
