The controversy first emerged after an X user, @Akubasteeny, accused Iyanya of shifting his allegiance from Wizkid, with whom he had previously collaborated on the popular song "Sexy Mama," to Davido. The accusation followed Iyanya’s recent public show of support for Davido’s music, raising questions about the nature of his relationships within the Nigerian music scene.

The user posted a message questioning Iyanya’s loyalty, stating: “I thought Wiz was your friend. I am just wondering why you switched side and turned into Davido’s boy.” This sparked a flurry of online reactions, with many fans of both artists weighing in on the debate.

In a swift and candid response to the allegations, Iyanya dismissed the insinuation, clarifying that he does not have any issues with any of his colleagues and that his support for all Nigerian artists remains steadfast. He emphasized that he continues to admire and appreciate the music of both Wizkid and Davido, as well as other prominent artists within the Nigerian music industry, regardless of any fan-driven divisions.

“I don’t have an issue with any artiste. I played Wizkid’s Made in Lagos and Morayo, the same way I play every other artiste’s songs. Most artistes won’t say this, but we are the first to listen to other artistes’ projects when they drop. It’s part of our work to stay updated on the sound and the game,” Iyanya wrote in his response, highlighting the professional need to stay connected to the latest developments in music.

Further defending his stance, Iyanya expressed his ongoing support for his peers, revealing his consistent habit of playing music introduced to him by his friend and talent manager Ubi Franklin, who is known for presenting new songs to him. He also mentioned that he maintains a good relationship with Burna Boy, stating that they recently enjoyed a night out together at a club, further reinforcing that he does not harbor any animosity toward other artists.

“I dey play all and I tell you, me no get enemy o. So make una stop this friend or no friend. Na una fans dey try dey push agenda wey no dey,” he added, emphasizing that he does not engage in unnecessary drama and that any conflicts are being perpetuated by fans rather than the artists themselves.

Iyanya’s clarification comes amid ongoing tensions between Wizkid and Davido, whose well-documented feud has often spilled onto social media, with both artists’ fanbases engaging in heated online debates about their respective idols. Despite the public disagreements between the two music giants, Iyanya's message reinforces the idea that artists should focus on their craft and maintain respectful relationships with their colleagues, irrespective of the battles waged by their supporters on social platforms.
