Renowned businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, has waded into the ongoing dispute between Nigerian singer Asake and his father, Fatai Odunsin, as the controversy continues to spark debate online.
The rift between Asake and his father became public knowledge after a viral video surfaced, showing the elderly man, who is reportedly battling a stroke, pleading for financial assistance and accusing his superstar son of abandonment.
This revelation quickly ignited heated discussions among fans and critics alike, with many expressing mixed opinions on the matter. While some sympathized with the singer’s father, others urged Asake to speak up and share his side of the story.
In response to the allegations, Asake broke his silence in a TikTok video, asserting that, despite his efforts to care for his father, it seemed nothing was ever enough to satisfy him. The singer hinted at underlying issues between them but refrained from giving further details.
Amid the ongoing saga, Isaac Fayose has called on Asake to show compassion and reconsider his stance, stressing the importance of family and urging the singer not to neglect his father’s wellbeing. He advised Asake to act with empathy, regardless of any past misunderstandings.
Fayose went on to caution men to be mindful of old age and not to rely solely on their children for financial support, as circumstances may not always favor them. According to him, fathers often find themselves alone in such situations, particularly if their children have been negatively influenced by their mothers.
He shared his thoughts in a heartfelt statement:
“For Asake and his father, the bottom line is that once you’ve given birth, you have to work hard to make sure you can afford all the things that come with old age. Children are for mummies; daddies are often left alone. Don’t rely on them.
If you’re lucky to have a good mummy championing you in front of your children, then you are lucky. Asake, forget what your mother said and look after your father. Temper justice with mercy; you can only have one father.”
To further show his support for Asake’s father, Fayose pledged a financial donation of N500,000, requesting his bank account details so he could send the funds immediately. He made the announcement via social media, emphasizing that the elderly man did not look well and required urgent assistance.
Sharing a video addressing the situation, he captioned it:
“Please I need @asakemusic father’s account number, make I send him 500k. The man is not looking too good 😭😭😭. Man no be God.”
The situation has since gained widespread attention, with many people urging Asake to reconcile with his father and extend a helping hand, regardless of their differences.
