Afrobeats superstar, Davido has taken a moment to highlight the unwavering support of his wife, Chioma, during the creation of his highly anticipated and chart-topping album, ‘5ive’.
Released on April 18, 2025, ‘5ive’ features 17 tracks, including collaborations with global icons such as Grammy award-winning artists Victoria Monét [/b]and Chris Brown.
The album made an impressive debut, securing the number 2 spot on the World Albums chart and achieving 7,000 equivalent album units in its first week.
In a candid interview, Davido expressed his deep gratitude towards Chioma, revealing that her presence was a key motivating factor throughout the recording process of ‘5ive’. He praised her for giving him the energy to keep going during the demanding album creation period.
“Shoutout to Chioma, when I was recording the album, she was around and gave me the energy to work,” he said, acknowledging the importance of her support in helping him push through. His words underscore how Chioma’s presence contributed significantly to his creative process.
Further adding a personal touch to the interview, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed that Chioma has a favorite song on the album, ‘10 Kilo,’ which she has been listening to repeatedly. “When I spoke with her two days ago, she’s shifting towards 10 Kilo,” Davido shared, reflecting on the special connection between his work and his wife’s appreciation for it.
