It would be recalled that Davido, one of Africa’s most celebrated Afrobeats stars, recently dropped his much-anticipated fifth studio album titled 5ive, which has since been generating mixed reactions from fans and critics alike.

Geh Geh.

However, while many fans have been showering praise on the project, Geh Geh expressed his disappointment, describing the album as “mid” and offering his honest assessment of the album’s shortcomings.

The influencer stated that one of the major issues with the album was the inclusion of what he called “unnecessary features”, pointing fingers especially at the collaboration with American R&B star, Chris Brown. Geh Geh argued that most listeners in the Nigerian and African markets no longer care much about such foreign collaborations and that the album would have been stronger without them.

Secondly, Geh Geh suggested that Davido missed a huge opportunity by not spotlighting upcoming Nigerian artists in the album. According to him, featuring fresh talents would have added new energy and diversity to the project, while also giving back to the industry that Davido himself benefited from during his early days.

Lastly, the self-proclaimed financial expert criticized Davido’s lack of evolution as an artist. He noted that the singer has been using the same style, beats, and sound patterns since his breakout hit ‘Dami Duro’ over a decade ago. Geh Geh remarked that fans deserve to see growth and experimentation from an artist of Davido’s calibre, rather than hearing a recycled formula.

In his words: “Davido is not evolving; you no dey change, your brand is the same. E just be like say since the days of Dami Duro, nothing really change about Davido. Even the sound no dey evolve.”

The review video quickly went viral across social media platforms, igniting debates among fans, with some agreeing with his take while others fiercely defended Davido’s artistry and album.
