Controversial activist, VeryDarkMan, has raised an alarm, calling out the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged plot to frame him up. He accused the anti-graft agency of targeting him due to his outspoken criticism of the agency and its chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede.
Taking to his Instagram page, VeryDarkMan posted a video in which he claimed that the EFCC is making moves to arrest him unjustly. He alleged that the agency has been compiling evidence against him, including footage of him spraying money at an event, as a means to fabricate charges against him.
The activist revealed that he got insider information regarding a meeting held at the EFCC’s Abuja office. According to him, a well-known influencer and a highly influential lawyer visited the EFCC and presented video evidence of him at an event, supposedly spraying money. He claimed that these individuals suggested that this was a perfect opportunity for the agency to go after him.
In his words: “EFCC Abuja, I heard you people had two visitors today. One of them is an influencer, and the other is a very big, influential lawyer. I know you would be wondering how I found out, but the truth is I have informants in your office. I am the reason why they came. They brought some clips of me and a picture of me spraying money. They said, ‘This is an opportunity for you to go for VeryDarkMan.’”
VeryDarkMan further claimed that the EFCC officer who received the visitors confirmed that he had been on their radar for some time. He alleged that the officer stated that since he had been vocal against the commission and had spoken against their leadership, they were looking for a way to silence him.
He continued: “And the officer they spoke to also said, ‘Yes, VeryDarkMan has been coming for us. He speaks about our Oga and has been talking to EFCC rudely.’ So, you people’s interests aligned, and you people are teaming up against VeryDarkMan. And I heard that you people are trying to frame me.”
