Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has openly stated that while President Bola Tinubu is a great father to his son, Seyi Tinubu, he is the worst president to Nigerians, in his opinion.
This comment comes just a few days after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) officially banned Eedris Abdulkareem's controversial song "Tell Your Papa" from being aired on Nigerian radio and television stations, citing breaches of broadcast decency standards.
The controversial song, which has generated mixed reactions across the country, was banned in a memo issued by the NBC on April 9, 2025. The memo, signed by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, classified the song as Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. This section of the code restricts the broadcast of materials deemed to be "inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency."

Shortly after the song was banned, Eedris Abdulkareem appeared in a personality interview on Channels Television, where he explained that the inspiration for his song came from watching Seyi Tinubu campaign for his father, President Tinubu. He shared that he saw a video of Seyi Tinubu repeatedly praising his father as the "best president," a statement he made over six times during the campaign.
Eedris criticized Seyi's presentation, saying that while Seyi looked perfect in silence, he lacked the charisma to adequately convey the true economic situation in Nigeria under his father's administration. Eedris further explained that Seyi’s constant praise for his father without addressing pressing national issues raised concerns about the disconnect between the president's actions and the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
Eedris Abdulkareem pointed out that while President Tinubu has empowered his son Seyi, he has failed to provide basic needs such as jobs and food for the larger Nigerian population. He added that while Seyi may be benefiting from his father’s presidency, the same cannot be said for the majority of Nigerians, who are facing economic hardship and a lack of opportunities.
