Celebrated Nigerian singer, KCee, has revealed the reasons behind his younger brother, E-Money, surpassing him in wealth, despite KCee's long-standing career in the music industry.
During a candid interview on the popular podcast series, Tea with Tay, KCee opened up about his and his brother's different paths to financial success.
KCee acknowledged that during the early days of his career, E-Money was his manager, helping to guide him through the ups and downs of the music industry. At the time, KCee was wealthier than his brother, who had not yet achieved the level of success he would later experience. E-Money was heavily involved in business ventures and was able to generate significant income, whereas KCee was focused on his music career, which naturally had fluctuations in terms of popularity and income.
The singer shared that E-Money had even contributed financially to his wedding, further demonstrating the bond they shared and the early support that KCee received from his brother. However, KCee noted that E-Money's business acumen eventually helped him build substantial wealth, making him wealthier than KCee, whose income as a musician was directly tied to the success of his music releases. KCee further explained that had he invested as much time and resources into business ventures as he did into his music career, he believes he would have been “ten times richer” than he is today. He reflected on the unpredictability of the music industry, where a musician’s success often depends on the performance of their songs and albums.
“He used to be my manager; I made money before him. When he was doing his wedding I was part of the sponsor, then he started making money and making more money. And I must say this, the number of years I have put into music, if I had put it into a business I would be ten times richer than I am,” KCee said during the interview, reflecting on the different paths that led to his brother’s financial success.
