During the interview, one of the hosts had asked him about his relationship with Wizkid. The question came amid ongoing conversations about the dynamics of the Afrobeats industry and the perceived competition between the genre’s top stars.
The host pointedly asked Davido if he loves his colleague, Wizkid, referring to the ongoing speculation around their bond. The question quickly sparked laughter from the musician as he responded in his characteristic easygoing manner.

Bursting into laughter, Davido noted that he loves everyone he knows, leaving no room for ambiguity about his feelings towards his peers in the music industry. His response showcased his laid-back, personable nature, which stands in contrast to some of the more reserved personalities within the Afrobeats scene.
Additionally, Davido made a point to highlight the differences between his own approach to stardom and that of his contemporaries, such as Burna Boy and Wizkid. While Burna Boy is known for his rebellious persona, and Wizkid for his mysterious aura, Davido emphasized that he doesn’t need to adopt any particular image or attitude to be successful. He said: “I love everyone, man.”
He continued, explaining, “I’m not a rebel like Burna Boy or mystical like Wizkid. I’m just me. People know me as the outgoing, free guy. I’m not a rebel like Burna Boy or mystical like Wizkid, I can’t act that way.”
He went on to explain that some people feel he might be too “free” or not fully embracing the persona expected of a superstar. However, Davido remains firm in his belief that being authentic is key to his success. He shared, “Some people tell me I’m too free, don’t I know I’m a superstar. I’ll be like if my dad walks past you right now, you wouldn’t know so that’s how I grew up.”
He also revealed how his laid-back attitude extends even to his personal life, with his manager getting upset when he wears slippers in the house. This humorously illustrates his down-to-earth nature despite his massive fame. “My manager gets mad at me for wearing slippers in the house. There are people born artistes, who come out of their room looking good,” he said, chuckling at how he is often perceived as too casual.
