The spat began after Charly Boy took a swipe at the former senator, mocking his viral video in which Melaye declared himself a “limited edition,” a phrase he used to highlight his uniqueness and flair. Charly Boy used the opportunity to slam what he described as Dino’s excessive flaunting of wealth, suggesting that the politician’s extravagant behavior may be a cover for emotional or mental distress.

“Not all mental illnesses are noticeable,” Charly Boy had stated, hinting that Melaye's public displays of affluence could be masking deeper psychological issues.

In a fiery video response posted on Thursday to his social media pages, Senator Melaye didn’t hold back in addressing the remarks. He accused Charly Boy of clout-chasing and using his name for relevance, claiming the veteran entertainer's glory days were long over.

“Charly Boy is trying to use my name to gain popularity because his destiny has been thrown inside a freezer,” Melaye declared in the video, a statement that has since stirred significant reactions online.

The ex-senator went on to ridicule Charly Boy’s living condition, alleging that the entertainer has a leaking roof in his house which he cannot afford to repair. He also criticized Charly Boy for what he termed “hypocrisy,” pointing out the large motorcycle parked at the front of his house, which Melaye said was no different from a show-off display.

Melaye did not stop there. He captioned the video with a scathing remark: “Boda agbaya..Charly Boy. Bad son of a good father. Egungun wey dey climb okada. Be careful.”

Known for his flashy lifestyle, Dino Melaye—who once represented Kogi West in the 8th National Assembly—is no stranger to social media attention. He frequently showcases his collection of luxury vehicles and designer outfits, often sparking debates among followers.
