Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and renowned journalist, Dele Momodu, has opened up about the reasons behind his fallout with his longtime friend and political associate, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking as a guest on the popular podcast, Honest Bunch, Dele Momodu shared details about the turning point in their relationship, which stemmed from his decision to contest in the presidential elections.

According to Momodu, Nyesom Wike had not explicitly declared his intention to run for the presidency, yet his actions and media engagements strongly suggested that he was interested in the race. This created an air of uncertainty and tension within their political circles.

As part of his political strategy, Dele Momodu revealed that before making his presidential ambitions public, he first sought advice and feedback from key political supporters. He believed that forming alliances was crucial, especially given the challenges of securing votes from the northern region.

Understanding the importance of regional support, Momodu stated that he approached Wike to discuss a potential alliance and to seek his backing for his presidential bid. He wanted clarity on whether his friend would be willing to support him in the race.

However, to his surprise, Nyesom Wike did not offer the support he had hoped for. Instead, Momodu disclosed that Wike turned his back on him and, rather than standing by him, made unexpected and disparaging remarks about him during multiple television interviews.

The fallout between the two political figures became more apparent as Wike’s media appearances included statements that, according to Momodu, undermined his credibility and political ambitions. This ultimately led to a breakdown in their once-strong friendship and political alliance.
