Canadian-based Nollywood actress Deborah Ewedafe has opened up about the heartbreaking struggles she faced, which ultimately led her to step away from acting.
The actress, known for her outstanding performances in Nollywood, shared the emotional story behind her decision to quit acting in a recent interview with Kunleafod TV. She revealed that she was forced to take a break from her career due to a devastating family tragedy.
According to Deborah Ewedafe, she lost four close family members in just two months in 2024, an experience that left her deeply shaken and unable to continue her work in the movie industry.
In her emotional statement, she said, “I was planning to take some actors to Canada for the continuation of season two of one of my movies that I started two years ago. However, I had to put everything on hold when I lost four members of my family in just two months.”
She continued, “I lost my niece, whom I had been taking care of since she was just two years old. She passed away at the age of 31. I also lost my brother, my cousin, and my father-in-law. The year 2024 was one of the most difficult years of my life, but I thank God because I learned valuable lessons from those painful experiences.”
The actress expressed how the tragic losses affected her emotionally and mentally, making it difficult for her to focus on her career. She explained that while she is still passionate about acting, she needed to step away to heal and process the grief.
