Popular Nigerian singer and Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran highlife legend, Bright Chimezie, as he revealed that one of Chimezie’s classic hits was the source of inspiration behind his latest track.

During a warm video call between both musicians, Davido expressed his admiration and gratitude to Bright Chimezie, crediting the highlife pioneer’s old song, ‘Because of English,’ as a strong influence on his new collaboration with Omah Lay titled ‘With You.’
In the video, Davido could be seen smiling as he told Bright Chimezie, “Your song ‘Because of English’ really inspired me. I made a new song with Omah Lay titled ‘With You,’ and it was heavily influenced by your classic.”
The singer further stated that he would love to fly Bright Chimezie to Lagos so they could link up in person, indicating his deep respect and admiration for the music veteran’s legacy.
