Notable Nigerian comedian, Woli Arole, has sparked widespread conversation online after publicly criticizing certain university fellowship leaders for what he described as exploitative and inappropriate behavior on campus.
Taking to his official Instagram page, the popular comic and social commentator addressed the growing trend among some student religious leaders who, upon being called “Papa” and “Mama” within their fellowships, begin to demand food items from their fellow students under the guise of receiving “first fruits.”

Woli Arole expressed his disappointment and concern over this development, highlighting how such leaders are misusing their spiritual positions to take advantage of others, particularly fellow undergraduates who are often struggling to meet their own basic needs.
In a strongly worded message shared on his platform, he wrote:
“I heard they are already calling you ‘Papa and Mama’ in the University bcos you are a fellowship leader and you are also telling students to bring their foodstuffs as FIRST FRUIT. What Nonsense”.
His post quickly gained traction across social media platforms, with many users expressing agreement and praising Arole for shedding light on the issue. Others added their own experiences, revealing a disturbing pattern where leadership titles within campus fellowships are sometimes misused for personal gain rather than genuine spiritual guidance and service.
The issue has also reignited discussions about the ethical responsibilities of student religious leaders and the need for greater accountability and spiritual maturity in handling positions of influence, especially in academic institutions.
