Afrobeat sensation, Davido has opened up about a life-changing moment in his music career—his first encounter with American R&B star, Chris Brown.
Sharing details of how they first connected, Davido recounted how a mutual friend of Chris Brown, who happens to be a Nigerian, reached out to him via FaceTime. To his surprise, the call turned out to be more significant than he imagined.
According to the singer, while on the video call, Chris Brown’s friend asked Davido whether the song playing in the background was his. Davido confirmed it, and right then, the phone was turned towards Chris Brown who was energetically dancing to Davido’s track.
“That’s how our first conversation started,” Davido explained, noting how surreal the moment felt. He emphasized that it wasn’t just a brief interaction but the beginning of a strong relationship.
Following their virtual meeting, Davido flew to the United States where he finally met the superstar in person. Their bond was instant, leading to several collaborations and joint performances.
He also revealed that one of their first major outings together was a trip to South Africa, where he performed alongside Chris Brown at one of his shows. Davido highlighted how this opportunity elevated his profile and brought global attention to his music.
