A newly surfaced CCTV footage has debunked claims that online personality VeryDarkMan was arrested inside a GTBank branch, providing a different perspective on the controversial incident.
The footage, which has now gone viral, was shared via a post on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and it immediately triggered a wave of mixed reactions online.
In the surveillance video, VeryDarkMan can be seen calmly conducting his banking activities inside the bank hall. There is no sign of any altercation or disruption during his presence in the building. He is later seen exiting the bank premises in an orderly manner.
Another section of the footage, shot from a different angle outside the bank building, shows the moment he was approached by a group of unidentified individuals shortly after he left the banking hall. These individuals are believed to be security agents, although no official uniforms or badges were clearly visible in the footage.
The incident has since raised more questions than answers, especially as conflicting reports suggest that VeryDarkMan may be in either police or EFCC custody. While his exact location and the details of his arrest remain uncertain, the footage provides strong evidence that he was not apprehended within the banking premises as initially reported by some sources.
The footage has ignited intense conversations online, with many social media users expressing outrage, concern, and calls for accountability from both GTBank and the EFCC. Critics have questioned the legitimacy of the arrest and whether the agency's actions were justified.
Some users believe the arrest could have been premeditated and orchestrated with the help of certain institutions, while others demand the release of time-stamped footage and full transparency on the matter.

@KwaptoeP: “@gtbank just wait till Monday, that’s when you will know that you are messing around with the wrong generation. I will drop name of Six accounts from my family that are closing in GTB on Monday.”
@flourish007: “From this video, there’s a need to clearly define what constitutes ‘premises’ in this context. How did the EFCC pinpoint his exact location—was he somehow delayed in the banking hall? It’s curious, especially considering this is the same EFCC that hasn’t invited Okoya’s sons over similar offences committed by Brotherhood. Is selective justice now the norm in Nigeria? And how truly independent is the EFCC?”
@IsCreatorworld: “but from people motion you can understand that the arrest was done at the gate people something was happening that people was focusing at the entrance.”
@jayson4hiz: “Please be sure & show time stamp from where the video looped, do not set an agenda that is not water tight.”
@highdee4real008: “@gtbank you guys don mess up oooo, una no fit wash una sef clean from this mess , una don dey mess up gradually, gradually I don even withdraw all my money for una side , setting people up is what you do now.”
