Grammy award-winning artist, Burna Boy, has revealed the payouts that artists receive upon reaching 1 million streams on popular streaming platforms, offering a breakdown of the earnings in different markets around the world.
The singer, recently embroiled in a Lamborghini controversy [/b]with a Lagos-based socialite, Sophia Egbueje, disclosed this information through a candid post on his Instagram page.

According to Burna Boy, the estimated earnings from 1 million streams in Nigeria range between $300 and $400, while the payouts in the UK are considerably higher, between £3,000 and £4,000. The artist went on to explain that the US and European markets offer similar payouts, with earnings from 1 million streams also ranging between $3,000 to $4,000 or €3,000 to €4,000, respectively.
Burna Boy used his platform to point out that achieving the number one spot on Nigerian streaming platforms shouldn’t be considered a significant achievement for artists, as the financial rewards from streams in the Nigerian market are relatively low in comparison to international markets. He emphasized that artists should aim for greater success and not solely rely on the local scene for recognition and income.
The ‘Party’ crooner shared his thoughts in the following post on Instagram:
“1000000 Nigerian streams, $300/$400. 1000000 UK streams, £3000, £4000. 1000000 US streams $3000/$4000. 1000000 Euro streams €3000/€4000. Your song being number one on any streaming platform in Nigeria is nothing to celebrate. Aim higher or do business on the other side. I type with love.”
Burna Boy’s message comes as a reminder for fellow artists to focus on international opportunities and not get distracted by local popularity, especially when the financial gains are not as substantial.
