Nigerian music legend, 2Baba Idibia has finally opened up about his separation from his longtime partner and wife, Annie Macaulay, while also praising her remarkable attributes and strength.
It will be recalled that 2Baba Idibia announced his divorce from Annie Macaulay in January 2024, although the details surrounding the split were kept private at the time, sparking widespread speculation and discussions among fans and media outlets.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview with Nedu Wazobia and his co-hosts, 2Baba revealed that both he and Annie invested everything they had into making their marriage work. He emphasized that despite their efforts, things ultimately did not work out as they had hoped.
According to 2Baba, while he understands the curiosity of the public, he prefers to keep the deeper reasons for their split private out of respect for their shared experiences and mutual understanding.
“I think both of us gave it our best. Why we are not together is not something I’m going to start talking about here in the public,” he stated firmly, expressing his commitment to maintaining privacy on the matter.
He further described Annie Macaulay as an incredible woman, highlighting that their relationship had simply reached a natural conclusion. He acknowledged that sometimes, despite deep love and effort, relationships may come to an end because they no longer function as they once did.
“Me and her, we get our understanding. She’s amazing. Like I said earlier, it wasn’t just working no more. That’s just it,” he explained, making it clear that there was no animosity between them and that he still holds her in high regard.
